I'll be heading out on vacation soon...first to visit my Aunt Elaine in Ohio. While I'm there we will get to go see Kim's Study In Contrast in person which I am so excited about! After that I will continue on to Buffalo where about 60 garden bloggers from around the country will be gathering for several days of garden viewing, tours, sharing, eating, drinking and fun. I think we're ALL excited about that!
After all that excitement I will cross the country diagonally and spend time with the Sweet-Granddaughter and her family in San Diego. What we do there remains to be seen but I'm hoping to hit a few garden centers I've heard of...San Diego is a hot bed of succulents which I am addicted to at the moment. I wonder how many I can carry on...maybe I can mail my clothes home?

In the meantime my garden will continue to do its thing with the care of two garden assistants...my husband and my son. Hopefully I will have left good notes on the care and watering needs of the garden but I will still miss a few things. Will these tomatoes be ripe before I return? What about the beans that are already flowering? I wonder if I should pick off the blooms before I go? These Italian peppers are actually ready to be eaten...I'd better plan to use them up.
One thing I won't miss is Lilium Landini which has started blooming so I am at least getting to see some of the blooms!

Oooh... I LOVE that lily. And I'm thinking that sending your clothes home via UPS is a brilliant idea, if you stuff your bag with cuttings and plants!
You have no idea how nervous I am about having you see my garden, btw. It's not ready for its close-up--spring is tough at my house, with the 2 jobs and all that. So you and your aunt have to promise to wear your "Gardeners' Glasses" and see what I want it to look like! Lol.
Of course we will have our gardener's glasses! That's what I use for my own garden so I know how to filter pretty well. You're a real gardener and no real gardener has everything perfect at any one time...it's always a work in progress!
Leslie...love the lily and glad you got to see it. Have fun and say hey to Kim from me. Gail
'Landini' is gorgeous! I'd be afraid to carry succulents, most of them have spikes or thorns. I'm so jealous you get to visit Kim & see her garden.
Looking forward to seeing you in Buffalo. That is a stunning Lily!
Boy, you are really making the rounds! Say hey to Kim for me, too.
It is so beautiful at your place right now I'm sure you'll miss a thing or two, but all those things you'll see while you're gone will give you inspiration for when you return. Can't wait to see you.~~Dee
Hi Leslie,
It sounds like you're going on an exciting vacation. I can easily understand that you look forward to personally visit and see "Kim's Study in Contrast". Judged by the pictures on her blog, it seems like a really interesting garden - just like yours :-)
BTW, your Lilium Landini looks terrific. I'm glad to hear that you were in time for seeing some of the blooms.
I wish you a wonderful vacation!
Best,
Anette
That Landini is GORGEOUS. We can't grow those so I have to be content with pictures until we get to Buffalo in a few days ... surely our friend Elizabeth will have lilies for me to view in person!
I'm looking forward to seeing you again!
Guess you'll see this when you come back from your fabulous tour, Leslie...how cool that you'll see Kim and the Buffa10 and the granddaughter while someone else waters!
Some of us are so nearsighted that we don't need Gardener's Glasses to soften the edges- all we have to do is take off our real glasses and the world is an Impressionist painting.
Have fun!
